Let’s talk about the adrenals because they are so important to our health especially since we live in such a hectic high stress society always rushing everywhere.
The adrenals are two little organs that sit over your kidneys and control our response to stress and our blood sugar. There are two layers to the adrenals, the adrenal cortex and the adrenal medulla. We are going to be focusing on how stress effects our adrenal glands and can lead to adrenal fatigue.
When you stress your body goes through three stages, alarm, resistance, and exhaustion. This is the fight or flight response. When this happens our bodies release cortisol which mobilizes carbohydrates and fat for instant energy so we are able to deal with whatever is causing the stress. The problem arises when we are under constant stress and the cortisol levels stay high instead of returning to normal like its intended to do. When cortisol levels are constantly high it can cause all kinds of health problems. Some examples are impaired healing and cell regeneration, imbalances in other hormones, weight gain, low sex drive, sleeplessness, to name a few. Here is a great article on this topic https://www.womenshealthnetwork.com/adrenal-fatigue-and-stress/negative-effects-of-high-cortisol.aspx
There are three stages of adrenal change
1.Acute
2.Adrenal fatigue
3.Adrenal exhaustion
Here are the signs of each stage, you know you are in the acute stage if you have an injury, are in danger, or get stressful news. Your body is preparing the fight or flight response to the stressor. If it is functioning at its optimal level it can take on the stress and get through it to the other side. If not and it is subjected to more than it can handle you will end up with adrenal fatigue. The symptoms of adrenal fatigue are more tired than normal, you may have blood pressure issues, heart issues and irritable bowel syndrome, depression, weight gain to name a few. Here is a great article on the symptoms https://www.jillcarnahan.com/2015/05/17/signs-you-might-have-adrenal-fatigue/ . In stage three adrenal exhaustion you may find you need antidepressants, stomach acid medications, are tired all the time, your hormones are way out of balance.
Let’s look at what causes it.
1.Pregnancy-adrenal fatigue can begin in the womb. In the beginning of pregnancy baby uses moms adrenals, if you are stressed your baby will feel it too. During the end of pregnancy when the babies adrenals are developed if mom is stressed she will start relying on babies adrenals. The baby can be born with adrenal fatigue.
2.Chronic stress is a major problem.
3.Trauma can lead to adrenal fatigue. Trauma can be an accident, surgery, the death of someone close to you.
4.Hormone imbalance, if estrogen is high, cortisol is high.
5.Bad diet choices.
6.Chronic toxicity from heavy metals.
I am not trying to scare you here, it can be fixed! We just need to work on supporting our adrenals and limiting or changing how we react to stress.
I must mention again I am not a doctor just a mom and wife learning how to help myself and family with a passion to share with others. Not here to diagnose, treat, or cure any disease. Just share what I am learning in hopes of helping others to live a life of health and wellness.
In my next post I will talk about ways to support the adrenals.
Blessings,
Anna

Let’s talk about our hormones and our endocrine system. Did you know that your endocrine system produces all of your hormones? Amazing! A happy well working endocrine system is so important for our health. Have you heard about endocrine disrupters? Are you tired all the time? Do you feel like your brain is foggy and you just can’t think clearly? Do you have low libido? Do you feel like you need sugar to pick you up in the afternoon? Maybe you need to support your endocrine system.
First let’s talk about what our endocrine system is. Our endocrine system consists of 8 glands.
1. The hypothalamus controls body temp, thirst, hunger, and is involved in sleep and emotional activity. When our brain becomes inflamed the hypothalamus will cause disease.
2. The pituitary gland is a tiny pea sized gland in the brain referred to as the “master gland”, it produces many hormones that travel throughout the body directing certain processes or stimulating other glands to produce hormones.
3. The pineal gland is the source of Melatonin, a Seratonin derived hormone that regulates sleep patterns.
4. The Thyroid which regulates metabolism, heart rate, body temp, muscle tone, menstrual cycles, cholesterol, and bone growth.
5. Parathyroid glands control calcium levels.
6. Adrenal glands sit on top of your kidneys. They produce hormones that help the body control blood sugar, burn protein, react to stressors like a major illness or injury, and regulate blood pressure.
7. Pancreas controls blood sugar levels.
8. Testes and ovaries which secrete testosterone, estrogen and progesterone.
Now can you see why a healthy endocrine system is sooo important! Here are seven tips to help you support your endocrine system. In my next few blog posts I will discuss a little more in-depth on a few of the glands and how to support them.
1. First thing to think about is eliminating endocrine disrupters! Here is a great site that goes into more depth and lists the endocrine disrupters https://www.precisionnutrition.com/all-about-endocrine-disruptors Endocrine disrupters are stored in our fat cells!
2. Support your body to detox by reducing exposure, drinking lots of water, adding citrus vitality oils to your water, sweating through exercise, and taking detox baths with Epsom salts and essential oils.
3. Eliminate inflammation in the brain by limiting foods that cause inflammation. These can include sugar, vegetable oil, gluten, dairy for some people, and of course processed food. And increasing nutrient dense foods, getting adequate amounts of protein, healthy fats, fruit, and starchy carbs.
4. Supplements are a great addition to your day also! We don’t get enough Essential vitamins and minerals through our food so it’s important to add them in through supplements and of course my favorite supplements come from Young Livings essential oil infused products. We also need extra antioxidants. My personal recommendations are Master Formula, Ningxia Red, omegagize, sleepessence or immupro chewable, Endoflex Vitality oil and for women Progessence Plus, and Powergize. I know this is a long list! If you are just starting out I personally think Ningxia is a great place to begin. Try it for a month or two and see if it makes a difference for you like it has for me!
5. Do your best to get enough sleep! Go to bed at the same time, make your room dark, I have blackout curtains in my room, limit television and screens before bed. Blue light effects your brains ability to “turn off”. Put some soothing oils in your diffuser, spray your pillow with a lavender spray. A lack of sleep is an endocrine disrupter.
6. Limit stress or change the way you react to it. Ways to decrease stress are deep breathing, massage, exercise, and this one is great! Power napping! There are also some great oils to help lower stress. Stress Away is a great one,Bergamot, and Idaho Balsam Fir. Lavender is great for some. Experiment and see what works for you!
7. And last but not least exercise and strength training are both good for your endocrine system! And for your whole body!
As you read through this remember I am not a doctor, I am not here to diagnose, treat, or cure any disease. The info in this post is my own reading and learning and my own personal experience. I love learning about health and wellness and sharing what I have learned with others!

Happy Valentines everyone! How do you celebrate Valentines Day? We have no real plans today because of it being Ash Wednesday and we have church tonight. I read this great blog post from an Instagram friend and it has inspired me to celebrate! I use to make a very nice dinner using our fine wedding china, because I have it might as well use it, right! So decided to plan a dinner on Friday. I have a turkey in the freezer that needs cooked. Also one of my daughters reminded me yesterday that I hadn’t used my nice china in forever. I replied “ya it’s a lot of work!” So time to “break” out, not literally, my dishes and plan a nice dinner! Maybe candlelight also! Or I could use my Desert Mist Diffuser with the candlelight settingπ. Add some Stress Away, maybe some Jasmine! Now I’m getting excitedπ. I do love to fix a beautiful table with yummy food, it’s just tons of work! I will take pics and share with you all!
I would love to hear your plans for the day!
BTW Rose Oil is on sale from today until the 16th! This oil is on my wish list! Did you know?~ Rose oil is amazing!!!
It takes 10,000 roses to fill a single 5ml bottle (about the size of your thumb)!
- It also takes 60 roses to create a single drop of Rose oil. That’s just under 5 dozen roses!
It is extraordinary to think of how many roses it takes to make a single drop of this magnificent oil. Imagine receiving 5 dozen roses from your beloved, can you visualize the space it would take up in your living room?
Here are some more astonishing visuals…
– 10,000 roses is equal to 833 dozen roses.
Can you visualize that in your living room? Oh the fragrance!
Happy oiling,

I learn so much from talking with others about how they use their oils. I would love to hear from all of you, what are some of your favorites? What have you tried that you just love and don’t know how you went so long without it?
I have so many favorites! It mostly depends what I am using them for. I love Northern Lights Black Spruce, and Exodus II just because smelling them makes me happy!π. What are they for? No idea! I’ve never researched them.
My fave in the diffuser is Peppermint. Reminds me of Peppermint candy! I normally mix others with it just to get a change, but that Peppermint is the “BOMB”!
For daily support I have four that I cannot go without! Endoflex Vitality, Progessence Plus, Aroma Life, and Joy. I never miss a day of putting Joy over my heartβ€οΈ. It has taken some time for the smell to grow on me, not a fan of the floral scents. I also use Lemon Vitality, Grapefruit vitality, and Slique Essence in my water every day! Research limonene if you want to know why!
If I had to choose one Oil I could not go without it would have to be Thieves! This family thrives with Thieves. It goes in everyone’s diffusers every night, we add thieves vitality to our Ningxia, topically where needed. Thieves is my all time must have!
How about you? What oils do you love? Which one could you not do without? How about your favorite smell? I would love to hear about them!
Happy oiling,
Anna

Do you struggle with sleep? Sleep is such an important part of our health. Without it our bodies cannot recuperate from whatever we put it through. I don’t know about you but if I don’t get enough sleep I am not pleasant to be around!
Have you tried anything to help you sleep? Thanks to my friend Deanne I finally found my “magic” combo! I add these three oils to my diffuser, plus thieves of course, and before I know it I cannot keep my eyes open. My combo is 2 drops each of Bergamot, Lavender, and Patchouli.
I tried many other oils in my quest for the perfect sleep combo. Lavender works for many, I have made a roller with lavender and cedar wood and gave them away with great feed back. Vetiver is another one I tried and it did help, I put it on my temples. Other great sleep oils are Tranquil, Ruta Vala, and Valor. The key here is consistency, remember that post? Ya I am not always good at being consistent. Sometimes an oil can work immediately, other times it takes our bodies a while to adjust to the benefits.
If you are just starting out I would suggest you start with Lavender, in your diffuser and on the bottom of your feet. Same with Stress Away. Frankincense also helps for some.
I hope you find the oil or oils that work for you. If you have a combo that works I would love to hear about it! I learn so much from others and what works for them.
Good luck and happy oiling,
Anna
