What are enzymes?   They are a type of protein found within a cell.  They create chemical reactions in the body to help support life.  They perform very important tasks which include building muscle, destroying toxins and breaking down food particles during digestion.

An enzyme’s shape is tied to its function. Heat, disease, or harsh chemical conditions can damage enzymes and change their shape. When this happens, an enzyme doesn’t work anymore. This affects the body processes the enzyme helped support.

There are two ways your digestive system receives enzymes.  Naturally through your food or they are produced by your digestive organs.

Enzymes are required for proper digestive system function. Digestive enzymes are mostly produced in the pancreas, stomach, and small intestine. But even your salivary glands produce digestive enzymes to start breaking down food molecules while you’re still chewing. You can also take enzymes in pill form if you’re having certain digestive problems.  As you age the enzymes get depleted or damaged.  If you feel sluggish after a meal it is because your body is pooling all of its resources just to break down your food.

Here are some things that happen if your body is not producing enough enzymes.  You could have trouble digesting foods. You’re going to have a combination of seemingly unrelated symptoms. Some people may have small bacterial overgrowth in their small intestines. Things like skin rashes, acne and eczema, any allergic reactions on the skin can actually be a byproduct of not having enough digestive enzymes. You can also have mood swings, headaches, brain fog, joint myofascial pain, and all of it could indicate you don’t have function. Look at your gut if everything you put on your skin gives you a rash.

Here is an excerpt I found in a talk by Marcella Von Harding.  Marcella has certifications in Nutrition, iridology, Reiki, International Aromatherapy, Master Practitioner of Neuro-Linguistic Programming, Master Practitioner of Hypnotherapy, PhD in Psychoneurology, and Ingegrated Medicine, Anthony Robbins Digital Delivery Event Leader and as a Personal Trainer. “The source of life is enzymes. It’s our mentality and vitality. Each enzyme only does 1 thing. Each body function requires a specific enzyme. The body makes thousands of enzymes. This helps with breaking down plaque, fat and can improve oxygen distribution. Some pass into blood stream as building blocks - amino acids. If you are deficient, enzymes won’t go back into your reserve.”

So what can you do to support your bodies enzymes needs?  We choose to support with Young Livings Enzymes.  Here is a graphic on each enzyme and what it does.

Have you tried any of the enzymes?  I take Allerzyme with me wherever I go.  It is great to have if you go out to eat and your stomach gets upset.
