Sleep, for some it can be such a struggle! It’s so important for good health but it is such a struggle for so many. What kinds of things have you tried? I know one thing that I’m not good at but I keep hearing is to not have any screen time an hour before bed. I keep telling myself not to use my iPad but I’ll be busy checking something out and look at the clock only to realize it’s later than I thought. Yes this is one thing I struggle with daily and really need to work on.
I know the screen time plays a big role in my struggle to fall asleep and since I lack the foresight to quit doing it here are some great aides that help me to overcome the laying awake for hours issue.
One of my favorite oil combos, thanks to a friend who tried this first, is Bergamot, Patchouli, and Lavender. I add 3-5 drops of each oil to my diffuser. I don’t know what it is about this combo but it really helps me to fall quickly to sleep. I also love the Immupro supplement. Taken at bedtime this supplement helps you to fall asleep faster and helps you to stay asleep. I like it not only for sleep but because I am also supporting my immune system! Now that’s a win, win😁. Immupro provides Zinc and Selenium for proper immune function a long with chelated minerals which emerging science suggests are more easily absorbed by the body. It also delivers melatonin which encourages restful sleep by promoting the bodies natural sleep rhythm.
How about adding some Magnesium to your daily supplements? Low Magnesium can cause chronic fatigue. Supplementing with MegaCal can help your body get the Magnesium it needs to function properly. Of course talking with your doctor about what your body needs is always a great idea. I am here to tell you what I use personally and what has helped me. Everybody is different and when it comes to supplementing you need to decide for yourself what you think is best.
Some other great sleep oils to try are Lavender, Stress Away, Tranquil, Cedarwood, Peace and Calming, Ruta Vala, Valor, Vetiver, And Frankincense. Try any combo of these in your diffuser or on the bottoms of your feet. There are so many amazing oils out there and sometimes it takes patience and lots of trying of different oils or a combo of oils. I never would have thought to try the combo that my friend suggested! So if you haven’t found the perfect combo yet don’t give up you just might be surprised at what works.
I have shared rollers of 6 drops each of lavender and Cedarwood with so many people it has helped a lot of them so that’s always my first suggestion. Just don’t be discouraged if this combo is not right for you.
Every time I get together with other oily friends I am amazed at some of the ideas they give me. That’s why doing this with a friend is so much better. Not only are you on a journey to get healthy together but by sharing ideas you can come up with things you may have never thought to try yourself!
I hope this helps you to find the things that will provide you with some much needed sleep. I would love to hear from you if you find a combo that you love. Feel free to reach out to me anytime if you have questions. Here are some great diffuser blends for you to try

Do you struggle with sleep? Sleep is such an important part of our health. Without it our bodies cannot recuperate from whatever we put it through. I don’t know about you but if I don’t get enough sleep I am not pleasant to be around!
Have you tried anything to help you sleep? Thanks to my friend Deanne I finally found my “magic” combo! I add these three oils to my diffuser, plus thieves of course, and before I know it I cannot keep my eyes open. My combo is 2 drops each of Bergamot, Lavender, and Patchouli.
I tried many other oils in my quest for the perfect sleep combo. Lavender works for many, I have made a roller with lavender and cedar wood and gave them away with great feed back. Vetiver is another one I tried and it did help, I put it on my temples. Other great sleep oils are Tranquil, Ruta Vala, and Valor. The key here is consistency, remember that post? Ya I am not always good at being consistent. Sometimes an oil can work immediately, other times it takes our bodies a while to adjust to the benefits.
If you are just starting out I would suggest you start with Lavender, in your diffuser and on the bottom of your feet. Same with Stress Away. Frankincense also helps for some.
I hope you find the oil or oils that work for you. If you have a combo that works I would love to hear about it! I learn so much from others and what works for them.
Good luck and happy oiling,
Anna
Did you know that your health begins in your gut? If your gut isn’t healthy you are not healthy. Poor gut health can cause so many health issues. Numerous studies in the past few decades have shown that there is a link between gut health and the immune system, mood, mental health, autoimmune diseases, endocrine disorders, skin conditions, and cancer.
We have good bacteria in our gut, what exactly are gut bacteria and what do they do? Gut bacteria are types of microorganisms that live within the human digestive system alongside other tiny organisms like fungi and viruses. Together, they form the "microbiome".
Let’s talk about our hormones and our endocrine system. Did you know that your endocrine system produces all of your hormones? Amazing! A happy well working endocrine system is so important for our health. Have you heard about endocrine disrupters? Are you tired all the time? Do you feel like your brain is foggy and you just can’t think clearly? Do you have low libido? Do you feel like you need sugar to pick you up in the afternoon? Maybe you need to support your endocrine system.
First let’s talk about what our endocrine system is. Our endocrine system consists of 8 glands.
1. The hypothalamus controls body temp, thirst, hunger, and is involved in sleep and emotional activity. When our brain becomes inflamed the hypothalamus will cause disease.
2. The pituitary gland is a tiny pea sized gland in the brain referred to as the “master gland”, it produces many hormones that travel throughout the body directing certain processes or stimulating other glands to produce hormones.
3. The pineal gland is the source of Melatonin, a Seratonin derived hormone that regulates sleep patterns.
4. The Thyroid which regulates metabolism, heart rate, body temp, muscle tone, menstrual cycles, cholesterol, and bone growth.
5. Parathyroid glands control calcium levels.
6. Adrenal glands sit on top of your kidneys. They produce hormones that help the body control blood sugar, burn protein, react to stressors like a major illness or injury, and regulate blood pressure.
7. Pancreas controls blood sugar levels.
8. Testes and ovaries which secrete testosterone, estrogen and progesterone.
Now can you see why a healthy endocrine system is sooo important! Here are seven tips to help you support your endocrine system. In my next few blog posts I will discuss a little more in-depth on a few of the glands and how to support them.
1. First thing to think about is eliminating endocrine disrupters! Here is a great site that goes into more depth and lists the endocrine disrupters https://www.precisionnutrition.com/all-about-endocrine-disruptors Endocrine disrupters are stored in our fat cells!
2. Support your body to detox by reducing exposure, drinking lots of water, adding citrus vitality oils to your water, sweating through exercise, and taking detox baths with Epsom salts and essential oils.
3. Eliminate inflammation in the brain by limiting foods that cause inflammation. These can include sugar, vegetable oil, gluten, dairy for some people, and of course processed food. And increasing nutrient dense foods, getting adequate amounts of protein, healthy fats, fruit, and starchy carbs.
4. Supplements are a great addition to your day also! We don’t get enough Essential vitamins and minerals through our food so it’s important to add them in through supplements and of course my favorite supplements come from Young Livings essential oil infused products. We also need extra antioxidants. My personal recommendations are Master Formula, Ningxia Red, omegagize, sleepessence or immupro chewable, Endoflex Vitality oil and for women Progessence Plus, and Powergize. I know this is a long list! If you are just starting out I personally think Ningxia is a great place to begin. Try it for a month or two and see if it makes a difference for you like it has for me!
5. Do your best to get enough sleep! Go to bed at the same time, make your room dark, I have blackout curtains in my room, limit television and screens before bed. Blue light effects your brains ability to “turn off”. Put some soothing oils in your diffuser, spray your pillow with a lavender spray. A lack of sleep is an endocrine disrupter.
6. Limit stress or change the way you react to it. Ways to decrease stress are deep breathing, massage, exercise, and this one is great! Power napping! There are also some great oils to help lower stress. Stress Away is a great one,Bergamot, and Idaho Balsam Fir. Lavender is great for some. Experiment and see what works for you!
7. And last but not least exercise and strength training are both good for your endocrine system! And for your whole body!

There are so many things you can do to support your immune system! Here are five things we do regularly.
- High Quality Supplements: Taking high quality supplements along with a healthy diet of fruits and veggies. Do you take supplements? It’s so important to choose good quality. Did you know that most supplements have only a 30% absorption rate? The supplements we have found are infused with Essential Oils and they have an 80% absorption rate. That is a whopping 50% increase! This tells me you get way more bang for your buck and the supplements will be that much more effective!
- Superfoods: Eating foods referred to as superfoods is so great for you! I found an amazing antioxidant drink that we love! It is full of superfoods and is a whole-body supplement. Do you eat superfoods! I also like to make smoothies for my kids! So nutritious and tasty too! Our fave is Strawberry. Add blueberries for an amazing boost! Blueberries are one amazing super food! Other superfoods are leafy greens, nuts, and all berries.
- Sleep: Getting a good night’s sleep is so important for your immunity. Your body needs sleep to recover. In a recent study, scientists say they discovered that quality sleep can bolster the T cells in your body that fight off infection.
- Essential Oils: Essential Oils are great for your immune system. Our faves are Thieves, Immupro, Raven, and Eucalyptus. We try to diffuse Thieves Essential Oil every night in Fall and Winter! We also carry a roller bottle with Thieves with us to use whenever we feel the need!
- Exercise: And last but not least get your body moving! Exercise is great for your immune system!
Blessings,
Anna
